Photography Class “How to Shoot in Manual Mode” | Austin Family Photographer

A lot of Parents/Grandparents have come to me asking if I can show them how to use their expensive camera’s that they only know how to use on Auto mode so I have decided to offer a class that will teach you how to control your exposure using ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture all while using natural light.  I will show you how to get the blurry background that every Mom wants and which equipment you need to achieve this.  I will also review focus points and simple editing techniques.

Prerequisites: Camera that has manual mode that allows you to adjust ISO, Shutter Speed and aperture.  SLR (Single Lens Reflex) preferred, meaning you can change out the lenses.  You can have a  fixed lens or zoom lens.  Fixed lens meaning non-zoom.  Don’t worry if non of this camera lingo makes sense because that is the whole point of taking the class.

This class is not offered to Photographer’s that have a current photography business or plan to start one in the near future unless you live out of Austin and surrounding cities.  A few of my own personal pictures are below.

Class details:
-Thursday, August 4 from 5:30pm to 9pm in Georgetown, TX.
-Cost is $150 and will include dinner and cocktails/wine.  This will be due upfront to reserve.
-We will go over basics, do a mini shoot and then live critique.
-includes 1 month post class critiques/advice on your photos.
-Class registration will close once we hit 15.

Please email me at to reserve your spot.
